Fundamentals: Updated Regularly
The second of the three fundamentals, is that ICE Health Systems is updated regularly.
Updated regularly means that:
We are constantly improving the system.
- Updates include new features, improvements to existing features, and bug fixes.
- In 2019 we released 17 major updates, ~1 every 3 weeks.
- Iterative development allows us to be responsive, flexible, and always improving.
It's not just a product, but a process.
- The update process includes receiving feedback, discussing options, planning an approach, and delivering improvements.
- We always want to receive feedback.
- We always want to dig into the why behind feedback to deliver great solutions, not just band-aids or workarounds. Go beyond "because that's how we did it before".
Updates are managed and applied by ICE Health Systems.
- You don't have to manage the work of applying updates, testing them, or rolling them back if there are issues.
We update help materials as we improve the system.
- Materials include articles with step-by-step instructions for accomplishing new or improved tasks and videos demonstrating workflows.
- When you first login to a new version a What's New splash image highlights impactful changes in the latest release.
- Materials are available inside the system to enable people to find answers quickly without disrupting their work.
- Examples of support inside the system include: a searchable knowledge base, panels and tools with direct links to step-by-step instructions, help text on the interface, and helpful error messages.
- Learner experience improvements are part of the feature planning and development process.
These examples of what a regularly updated system enables can change how you approach your role as an expert or new user.
When you are completing the core activities — learning, brainstorming, and resolving — keep these examples in mind or refer back to this list.
Next, explore the third fundamental concept: configurable.
