Practice settings: assigning a temporary password to a provider

These instructions only apply if your practice uses Username/Password authentication instead of Single Sign-On through Google, Shibboleth, or another external identity provider.

Any password set for a user by another user will be temporary. The user will be prompted to change their temporary password upon login. By default, temporary passwords are valid for 72 hours.

All new passwords are being checked against a list of 10 million weak passwords in an attempt to ensure that common or easily guessed passwords are not used.

  1. Select the Account tab while editing a provider

  2. Scroll to Account Passwords and select Click to Change Password

  3. Enter the provider's new temporary password twice

  4. Select Save
