Managing referral documents

You can link documents to your referrals throughout the workflow in order to make sure it includes the most up to date information.

This includes completing new forms or letters from the referral window, or linking to forms, letters, and progress notes that you have created in other areas of the patient record.

Adding and linking documents allows you to send additional information about your patient's treatment or to request standardized information from the receiving clinic.

Adding New Forms or Letters

You can fill out a new form or letter directly from the Create or Edit Referral window. Documents added this way are also accessible from the Patient Documents panel.

  1. Select Add New Document


     
  2. From the New Document window
    1. Filter through the templates by using the filter field

      or

    2. Expand the folders by selecting the arrow beside the folder you want to browse


       
  3. Select a form or letter template and choose OK
  4. Fill out the details and select Lock or Close Draft
    1. Lock: The document cannot be edited and is accessible from the referral or the Patient Documents panel.
    2. Close Draft: The document remains in draft status and can be edited from the referral or the Patient Documents panel.


       
  5. The document is now linked to the referral
    1. Select X to remove the link from the referral. 
      • Documents you unlink are still accessible from the Patient Documents panel.


         

Linking Existing Documents

You can link existing documents from a patient's record to a referral. This provides the receiving provider or clinic with more information to evaluate and treat the patient.

You can link existing forms, letters, and progress notes.

  1. Select Link Existing Document


     
  2. To find the document you want, specify: 
    1. What is the document's title?
    2. What type of document is it?
      • Progress notes appear in results under the type Form.


         
  3. Select a result from the list 



  4. The document is now linked to the referral
    1. Select X to remove the link from the referral. 
      • Letters and forms you unlink are still accessible from the Patient Documents panel. Progress notes are still accessible from the Progress Notes panel.
