Creating a new referral

The referral process begins with the Patient Referrals panel. Referrals can only be created using this panel.

When a referral is created, its referral status is always Draft. A referral can be saved as a draft until it is ready to be sent. For example, the referral coordinator may require certain details or forms be completed before it is sent. Draft referrals can also be discarded.

When creating a new referral you can choose one of three types.

Referral TypeDescriptionExample

Evaluate Only

The patient requires further evaluation based on the referral's description.Further evaluations are needed before implants are considered for a patient.
Evaluate & TreatThe patient requires further evaluation based on the referral's description and can be treated by the receiving provider or clinic. The referring provider does not have the resources and expertise to provide dentures for a patient.
Transfer All TreatmentsThe patient is transferred to have their treatments completed by the receiving provider or clinic. The referring provider sends a referral to have all treatment completed at a different clinic because the patient is moving to that city.

After a new referral is sent, the referral status changes to Sent and a notification is sent in the system to all providers included in the referral.
